Publishing Platform
It began as a personal blog and grew into a complete publishing platform — a clean editorial front end plus a custom admin dashboard, user accounts and a database behind it. Not a template; a real product.
More than a blog — a platform.
Many personal sites start as a simple blog and quickly outgrow it: more content types, clearer organisation, special pages, accounts, administration. This project skipped the ceiling of a “standard blog” and was built as a proper product — with a content model, an admin layer, authentication, a database and infrastructure ready for live publishing.
The goal was a solid personal digital presence that doesn’t just display articles, but lets its owner manage everything centrally — publish video and audio, edit the interface copy, manage their account, and grow the site over time.
Powerful behind, simple in front.
The hard part was turning a simple idea into a coherent platform without the experience becoming heavy. The public site had to stay clean, elegant and editorial for readers — even as the back end grew to include multiple content types, authentication flows and admin tools. The balance: content that can expand, an interface that stays consistent, and administration that’s genuinely practical.
A calm editorial front end.
The public side reads like a modern magazine, not a template.
- A dynamic homepage that leads with a featured piece, then short archives of articles, video and audio.
- Full editorial article pages — considered typography, reading rhythm, MDX components, pull-quotes and rich content.
- A reading-progress indicator and share controls on every article.
- Dedicated video pages and a video archive.
- An audio conversations section with its own player.
- Site-wide search and clean info pages, all on reusable components.
A real CMS, not just a site.
Behind the scenes, everything is managed from a custom admin area — no third-party CMS.
- A custom admin dashboard to manage all content centrally.
- An article editor, video management and a content organiser.
- A global text editor to change the site’s interface copy.
- A PDF export tool for articles.
- Full authentication — login, register, password reset, set-new-password, profile and account settings, powered by Supabase.
Built as a product.
The codebase is modular — a clear separation between app, components, lib and content, and between the public site and the admin layer, so it’s easy to maintain and extend. Next.js gives performance and server rendering; Supabase handles authentication and dynamic data. SEO was built in end to end — dynamic metadata, Open Graph and Twitter cards, sitemap, robots and structured data.
A platform, ready to grow.
The result is a modern personal platform that works as a brand site, an editorial hub and a content-management system in one. It shows the ability to deliver more than a landing page or a standard blog — front-end architecture, backend integration, real UX, SEO and production readiness — with room to grow into premium content, monetisation and a wider admin.
